All Round Sports.

All Round Sports.

Diverting our minds from the high pace NBA 1st round draft pick which saw our very own Oladipo come out tops, the weekend seems to be in full swing with preview of the FIFA confederation cup final.
A mouth-watering fixture between the European/ world champions Spain and the south American giants Brazil promises a lot of action between the two attack minded teams.  Guessing this could be described as the tie of the tournament rivalling the entertaining Spain and Italy fixture. Sure to see the likes of Neymar who has impressed both fans and neutrals alike with his magical foot work and eye for goal and also Fernando Torres to be a surprising starter for spain alongside Iniesta and Xavi.
The finals which kicks off mon 01/07/13 at 11pm promises to be entertaining. Meanwhile, the 3rd place game is for sun 30/06/13 at 5pm. You can as well place your bets on the golden ball nominees Neymar, Iniesta and Pirlo.
No worries about misfiring strikers btw....no Gambo gambles. #bless

Some Celebs Go To Jail For Tax Evasion.

FAT JOE, DOLCE&GABBANA, LAURYN HILL GO TO JAIL FOR TAX EVASION.

Ok, so lately, I've noticed that's lots of celebrities have been evading taxes. Not just regular celebs bust mostly the well to do ones. I'm kinda confused because really, with all the money they are getting, they shouldn’t still be avoiding taxes. I'm not out to judge no one yeah, but I guess I'm just being logical here.

First off, I heard Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and his father have accused of allegedly defrauding more than 4 million euros ($5.3 million) in income tax returns for the years 2007, 2008 and 2009. Wow. The Spanish tax authorities are investigating claims that the four-time Ballon d’Or winner and his father, Jorge Horacio, have avoided paying the charges due from sales of the 25-year-old's image rights by operating through companies based outside of the country.

Messi moved quickly to deny the claims, and in a statement released via his official Facebook account, He said: "We have learned through the media about the claim filed by the Spanish tax authorities."We are surprised about this news, because we have not committed any infringement. We have always fulfilled all of our tax obligations, following the advice of our tax consultants, who will take care of clarifying this situation.” Under Spanish law, Messi could face a maximum penalty of six years in prison if found guilty.

Fat Joe

Also, American hip hop artist Joseph "Fat Joe" Cartagena was sentenced on Monday to four months in federal prison and fined $15,000 for failure to file tax returns on more than $3.3 million in income.

Fat Joe who is 42-years old faced the possibility of up to two years in prison after pleading guilty in December to two counts of failing to file with the Internal Revenue Service. He however paid $718,000 in back taxes prior to his sentencing and for his charitable work.

Fat Joe apologized to his family and friends, saying he let them down. He said his 6-year-old daughter was being taunted in school by classmates who said her father was going to jail (eyah). His income came from three companies, including Somerville, N.J.-based Terror Squad Production Inc and Miramar Music Touring, which he owned.

Lauryn Hill

Lauryn Hill has also been sentenced to spend 3 months in FEDERAL PRISON for tax evasion … even though she claims she paid off her nearly $1 million bill to Uncle Sam before sentencing. A judge in Newark, New Jersey dished out the sentence moments ago ... and told Hill that after she completes her stint behind bars, she'll spend 3 more months on house arrest ... followed by 9 months of supervised release.

The 37-year-old former Fugee pled guilty last year to three counts of tax evasion for failing to file returns on $1.8 million she earned from 2005 to 2007. Lauryn's attorney asked for mercy because of her charity work and 6 kids ... but the judge wasn't buying it.

Dolce and Gabbana

A Milan court has convicted the designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana of tax evasion. Dolce and Gabbana were found guilty last week of failing to declare $1.3 billion in income to authorities. The court sentenced them both to one year and eight months in jail. Prosecutors argued that the pair had evaded taxes on income of 416 million euros ($557 million) each and 200 million euros ($267 million) through a Luxembourg-based company. The statute of limitations ran out on a charge of misrepresenting income. The designers have denied the charges. Two years ago, a judge threw out a tax evasion and fraud case against the pair, whose label Dolce&Gabbana is a Milan fashion mainstay. Italy's high court later ruled the designers could be prosecuted for tax evasion, though not for fraud.

So I guess these folks are just avoiding tax payment because of the huge amount they have to pay.

Drop your comments below and let’s rub minds on this issue.

Make a pay-day off a holiday.

Make a pay-day off a holiday by @dhamey_splendor

Yippee... The holidays are here
My books can burn to ashes for all I care, after all I've worked my butt all session, so having some fun and luxury to myself is only fair, for all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy... This must be the thought of the larger number of us...

BUT... Before we make this dreadful decision, we must bear in mind that we live in a society where HARD WORK is the surest way to success... And time, which is money is that which can only accommodate hard work. Before we decide to use our free seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks and MONTHS to eat, watch movies, play games, visit cinemas, beaches, and all the facets of entertainment in this life, we must reason carefully and rationally.

The mind is a gold mine, the only entitlement and belonging of man which cannot be robbed of him. The mind can accommodate knowledge, creativity and talent, exemplary literacy and intellectual skills... It is that which helps you put the little pieces of your life together and paint the BIG PICTURE. But hey, don't forget I mentioned 'pieces'. When a man's mind is empty... It would be safe to say that his life porous because there are no even pieces to put together, therefore there is no vision. My dear, no matter how many Chris Brown and Rihanna songs you know, if U've not started writing your own songs or singing, you've not started! Some people say that they do not have any creative talent, but I beg to STERNLY disagree. Everyone has a gift, a potential from God, we just need to dig deeper in order to find it...

The Holidays as earlier said are the only free time we have on our hands, its the season that we are at liberty to do what we want. The main purpose of this piece is to suggest productive activities which we can engage, in order to spend our time prolifically rather than embracing frivolities. Below are some activities which can be engaged during the holidays:

Summer internships;chamber attachments maybe: in such an instance, one should ensure that there is proximity at such a place (you don't want to be put under too much stress or pressure).

  • Driving school
  • Catering school
  • Sewing apprenticeship or fashion designing
  • Babysitting jobs (funny isn't it?, but trust me its fun)
  • Computer training
  • Minor jobs (probably sales management jobs)
  • Learning how to play Musical instruments or probably dance classes

Also, develop your creative skill, if you're a writer, build up your writing skills, fashion designer, artist(e), painter, cook... Just keep doing it... Develop your skills. Developing what you have a passion for is an easy way to enrich your life...

Moreso, live responsibly, do your house chores and duties... Do not defy your domestic responsibilities because charity begins at home.
Lastly, mend your relationship with your creator, serve him where necessary, and put him first in all your doings.

Remember that the mind is a gold mine, only hard work can reap its gold which may either pay off now, or in the nearest future, but CERTAINLY will!!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

Fortress Of Solitude; LIFE

Life.

In a big box
empty, dark and locked

In this box where I was born

Bright and filled it was

but that was long ago.

The bigger I grew the smaller it grew.

Now…

tight and crushing is this box upon me

I’m in it, and it in me

Pushing me from the inside to

grow more and do more

against the box so I’m crushed

If I outgrow the one I’m in,

the one in me will grow to take its place.

Life is in me and I am alive

There’s nowhere to go and no escaping it.

YEMI: How was it like growing up?
B-red: I was born in America in Atl, and then moved back to naija @ the age of 5 and from then I've been going back and forth from Nigeria to America and school too.

YEMI: Cool... Now we all know why you’re always dripping the Yankee Swag! It’s from birth. Lol..
So, how and when did you start music?

B-red: Music… ummm… I started playing the drums at the age of 6 then started singing and producing @ the age of 16. I Started with a group in Atl, kb international. Me, Davido! Sina and this jamoo guy named Jamrock for a year then moved to Lagos with HKN music.

YEMI: Wow! That's massive. Means you started music a long time ago.
YEMI: Have you produced any major track in the Naija music scene? Or do you have anyone of your productions coming soon?

B-red: No. Nothing major yet but co-produced 1 or 2 tracks on the O.B.O album and yea the next track I drop I’ll do the drums. lol

YEMI: That's nice. So I guess it’s safe to say you contributed to the Dopeness of the O.B.O album as regards beats. Personally, I can't wait to hear the next track you are dropping. Who's the best producer you've worked with in Naija?
B-red: Lol. No, Shizzi did all the dope beats and the best producer I've worked with is Shizzi..

YEMI: Haha.. But you contributed...
B-red: Yes

YEMI: That's wassap! Shizzi is dope. He kills every beat. Compared to other artists, do you think your rise to stardom was easy or difficult?
B-red: Ummm… I'm on my on lane and it was not easy. It was difficult ‘cause you have to go through some struggles but I'm still pushing to get to the next level.

YEMI: I like your spirit. Still on your grind. So there are several rumours flying around that you left HKN for D'Ark entertainment. Are these rumours true?
B-red: No comment.
I've always been HKN.

YEMI: HKN still. That's wassap! What inspired your hit single 'insane gal'?
B-red: Umm… it was just a good day and Shizzi woke me up that let's work and everything came through like a freestyle, then O.B.O walked in and blessed the song.

YEMI: Wow. You prolly didn't even know it would turn out to be a hit song. I must confess, the video is slick too. When should we be expecting to see the 'Long Time' video?
B-red: I swear I did not know and I’ll be shooting long time in a few weeks

YEMI: Haha.. I would have said I know that feeling but sadly I'm not an artist :( ..lol.. Can't wait to see the 'Long Time' video. When is your album coming out?
B-red: I'm not really thinking of an album now.

YEMI: So I guess we'll just keep expecting more singles for now then. Just to for the doubting fans, Shina Rambo is your blood brother?
B-red: Yes more singles, videos and shows for now.
And yes Sina Rambo is my older brother.

YEMI: Oh cool. We gon keep blasting your jamz. And I see that the 'yankee sweg' runs in the blood. Giving that lots of your fan are the ladies, how do you handle so much attention from these female fans?
B-red: Umm @ first it was exciting to me but now it’s a normal thing. I've done shows everywhere with Davido across the world so I'm used to it now.

YEMI: Oh I see. So is B-red single or are you in a relationship?
B-red: Hmmm can this question not be asked? lol
YEMI: Lool. Ok then. So I have like three questions left for me to ask.
How would you describe your ideal kinda woman?

B-red: I wouldn't say I have a specific type. I just like a woman that has class and is independent. And sexy of course.

YEMI: Raaa! I think class and independence is sexy too :D . How has Music and the fame affected your personal life?
B-red: Lol. Can't really go to school again so I'm doing online school‘cause the first time I went to school in a Naija uni they chased me and my bro Sina so it was crazy and also now I really can’t go to most public places without security. I have to travel up and down, and it’s tiring but we still love it, and staying in shape.

YEMI: Hahaha... I can only imagine. Hope they didn't catch you?LOOL
B-red: Lol. na

YEMI: Haha.. Fastest runner. Quick question by the way. I remember back in the day, you used to be one best basket ballers and you were also one dope footballer in high school. Do you still shoot hoops and play soccer?
B-red: Yes, I still play B.ball and football, but more of football on my free time.

YEMI: Now I see how u stay fit. Where do you see yourself in 5years?
B-red: In 5yrs I see myself @ the top....very top

YEMI: Amen to that Gee!!!
So before I leave, I'd like you to say a word or two to the upcoming artists out there.
B-red: Just keep working harder and anybody can blow. Dreams come true, just ask Obama.

YEMI: Yessur! I like that. That's wassap!. Thanks a lot for your time for this interview on the LSS Social blog. Really appreciate. We'll be looking forward to more of your jams. God bless yah!
